2. What this policy covers
This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use Zoink, including our website, demo, and paid service (the "Service").
3. Information we collect
A. Information you provide
- Account information: name, email, password (stored as a secure hash), and plan status.
- User content: the text you submit for analysis and any edits you make in the app (your "Content").
- Support communications: messages you send to support.
B. Information collected automatically
- Usage data: feature usage, timestamps, interactions, and basic diagnostic events.
- Device/log data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, and error logs.
- Cookies/local storage: to keep you signed in and remember preferences (see Section 9).
C. Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. We may receive limited billing metadata (e.g., payment status, subscription ID, last4, country) to manage access and support.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide the Service (account access, text analysis, delivering outputs).
- Process payments and manage subscriptions (via Stripe).
- Maintain safety and security (fraud prevention, abuse detection, rate limiting, incident response).
- Improve and troubleshoot the Service (debugging, performance, reliability).
- Communicate with you (service messages, billing notices, support responses).
5. AI processing (important)
Zoink uses AI to generate suggestions. When you submit Content:
- Your Content is processed to generate outputs.
- We may send your Content to third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic) solely to generate the requested outputs and operate the Service.
- No guarantee of confidentiality in outputs: Do not submit highly sensitive personal data (e.g., medical records, government IDs) unless you accept the risk that it will be processed by our providers to generate results.
- Training: We do not use your Content to train our own models. Third-party AI providers process Content under their own terms and policies; they may retain data for limited periods for security/abuse monitoring or service operation depending on your configuration and their offering.
6. When we share information
We share personal information only as needed:
A. Service providers (processors)
We may share information with vendors that help us run Zoink, such as:
- AI processing providers (e.g., Anthropic)
- Payment processors (Stripe)
- Hosting/infrastructure (cloud hosting, databases, file storage)
- Analytics and error monitoring (if enabled)
These providers are permitted to process personal information only to provide services to us.
B. Legal and safety
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to:
- comply with law, lawful requests, or court orders
- enforce our Terms
- protect users, the public, or our rights and property
- prevent fraud or security incidents
C. Business transfers
If Zoink is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
7. Data retention
We retain personal information only as long as needed to:
- provide the Service
- meet legal, accounting, or tax obligations
- resolve disputes and enforce agreements
- maintain security and prevent abuse
You can request deletion (Section 10). Some data may be retained where required by law or for legitimate security/fraud prevention.
8. International users and cross-border transfers
We operate from Australia, but our service providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for cross-border transfers.
9. Cookies and tracking
Zoink uses cookies/local storage for:
- Essential functions (authentication, session management, security)
- Preferences (UI settings)
We use analytics tools (PostHog for product usage, Sentry for error tracking) to measure performance, diagnose issues, and improve the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not function without essential cookies.
10. Your rights and choices
A. Account controls
You may access, update, or delete certain information through your account settings (where available).
B. Data requests
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- access your personal information
- correct inaccuracies
- delete personal information
- object to or restrict processing
- request portability

C. California (CPRA) notice
- No sale of personal information: We do not sell your personal information.
- No sensitive data profiling claims: We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics for advertising.
- You may request access/deletion by emailing support@zoink.app.
D. Marketing emails
If we send marketing emails, you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in the email. Service/billing emails may still be sent when necessary.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no system is 100% secure; you use the Service at your own risk.
12. Children
Zoink is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us to request deletion.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you (e.g., by posting an update or emailing account holders). The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version.
